A delegation of department heads and program coordinators from Rutgers University recently took part in a tour of LifeTown, followed by a lunch and brainstorming session. They discussed ways their students can get involved with LifeTown as part of their educational requirements and professional development.
Joining the tour was N.J. Secretary of Higher Education Rochelle Hendricks, an early proponent of the LifeTown project. Hendricks praised the university staff for coming to the meeting and said that establishing a partnership between the university and LifeTown will be “a transformative moment” for families in New Jersey, as well as for Rutgers students.
The Rutgers delegation couldn’t contain their smiles as they made their way through the 53,000-square-foot building and were briefed on what LifeTown is and all of the various components the building will include, such as the therapy wing that resembles a town park and the Jersey Shore and the 15 shops in Life Village.
The Rutgers tour was followed by a visit from Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, executive director of New Jersey School Boards Association. The discussion focused on elementary and high school educational opportunities at LifeTown and the many ways that N.J. public schools can utilize LifeTown visits in their educational curriculums.
Work is progressing very nicely at LifeTown as the walls are almost completed, the air system is getting the finishing touches, the electric and plumbing contractors are well are their way to having everything connected… Looking forward to the Grand Opening in early 2018!
